Edward Potthast is an American Impressionist known for his idyllic depictions of the Atlantic shore. I think this is a particularly nice scene of sun-drenched children playing by the seaside, with minimal adult presence. This reproduction was commissioned for a New Jersey shore house, and I was told that the colors in the painting are a close match to the local sky and sea.
